FIRST RELEASE OF A GAME* LET'S GO

So, I wanted to just leave a little thought about how I felt making this game for this jam. I’ve never done this before; I feel pretty excited to be honest. But let me get into the feels.

Good feels:

  1. I learned a LOT over these last 14 days, as I had only merely looked at Godot before this jam!
  2. I also learned a lot about blender, previously I had a very horrible strategy for creating textures (using atlas maps, then manually placing UVs). Pretty much every non-ui texture was made in IN BLENDER using it’s texture paint function.
  3. I feel that my ability to research documentation and pick apart what others have shared has grown as a result of this game jam.

Bad feels:

  1. There were a few days where work stressed me out. I had lost 3 planned project days due to a lack of motivation resulting from stress in my life. In the end I pushed through this, it still sucked though.
  2. Learning Godot for the first time meant that a good chunk of the game’s code is just simply worse early on, and better later on. Honestly, if I revisit the project for a larger game, I might just clean the code up and make it better.
  3. Leading up to the point of publish, my anxiety peaked, this could have been mitigated by better planning for the jam.
  4. I really do enjoy the main gameplay aspect, using the WASD keys and the space bar to mash inputs was the first thing that I thought of when I started the jam, and I’m happy that it came out as well as it did (relative to some other parts)

All in all, I would love if you guys could review the work. I take what people say about my work pretty seriously, and love working on new and novel ideas.
